In April, the Pennsylvania Lions All-State Band Committee, along with so many Pennsylvania Lions were heartbroken by the cancellation of the 2020 State Convention scheduled for Erie. Among the many aspects of the State Convention that were missed, the greatest loss to the Band Committee was the opportunity to share with our audience our song, the song, The Pennsylvania Polka!
We decided something had to be done.
Thanks to the tireless work of All-State Band Committee Assistant Cyndi Mancini (Robinson Twp. Lions – 14-B). The Virtual Polka Project was born. Thanks to our alumni database and the magic of social media, the response to the project was vast. Participants in the project included PA Lions All-State Band alumni from the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, through 2019 as well as 2020 accepted members! Each member was responsible for recording their individual part. Ms. Mancini then spent countless hours compiling video and mixing and editing audio, we thank her for her work bringing this project to life.
